Me & Radiohead Are Best Friends Now
I get asked all the time which of my books is my favorite and I typically guffaw and say I could never choose one over the other. I’m not acting. I’m being honest.
But guess what? I’m writing a new book. And I love this book, too. I’m closing in on a completed first draft and my numb legs and shaky hands are proof I’ve been at it for quite a while. Months, actually. This one has taken me some time.

Let me tell you a little bit about it. I know you didn't ask, but I'm gonna tell you anyway. It’s a road trip book, which is a first for me. Seventeen-year-old Audrey goes on a six-week road trip across the country with…her mother. I’ll leave the rest up to your imagination.
For any of you long-time readers, you know how much I love Radiohead and they’re mentioned in the book a lot because they’re Audrey’s favorite band. Audrey is a smart character ; )
I have wild dreams of their songs being the soundtrack for the movie version of this book, and meeting the band, having a Pelegrino with Mr. Thom Yorke - we'd laugh at how crazy-popular the book and movie are, and then Mr. Yorke would tell me he cried when he read the book, and I'd swoon and tell him I cry every time I hear him sing “Codex” because it makes me think of Adele, my MC from my second novel EMPTY and how much pain she was in, and how “Codex” captures her pain perfectly, then Thom (I can call him that now because we're tight) would tell me he wants to read EMPTY and I almost faint, but then in a thrilling twist, he invites me and my family over to England for the movie premier, like, to stay in his house, I'd tell him we'd love to and then....

What can I say? I'm a writer. I have an overactive imagination.
I can’t really spill the detail beans on the novel just yet. Let me finish it already, geesh. But when it’s ready, I will craft a spectacular blog post and share it with all of you lovely people.
Let me end with this though. Despite loving something or someone being the mountaintop of feelings, to say I am loving this book and these characters feels insufficient. It’s more than that, whatever that is. The joy and heartbreak coursing through me while writing has made me feel more alive than I’ve felt in a while. What a gift.
